Soccer Box House Rules

General Rules

All games will be played in compliance with US Indoor Rules in addition to the following Soccer Box House Rules:

  • All players are required to present a valid Soccer Box player card to the ref prior to the start of each game.
  • A player or coach who receives a red card must exit the facility immediately and will be subject to a suspension and possible fine.
  • No cleats or chewing gum permitted.
  • A player may not play on more than one team in the same division during the same season.
  • Team rosters must be complete prior to start of game. Incomplete rosters will result in game being recorded as a forfeit.
  • All games are 7 v 7.
    • 5 players are required to start game.
    • Teams with less than 5 players have 5 minutes from game start time to field their team before game is declared a forfeit.
  • Forfeits will be recorded as a 3-0 final score.
  • The Division Champion will be determined by the team with the best record. In the event records are tied, head to head then point differential, then goals allowed will determine the winner.
  • A team which has been fouled 6 times in a half will be awarded a dribble up penalty shot.  
  • Any game resulting in a tie will begin alternating shoot outs with the first team to miss being declared the loser and the winning team will be awarded one point. 

Adult Rules 

  • Game duration, 21-minute halves with 2-minute halftime.
  • Division champions are required to move up to the next division the following season.
    • Teams who are required to move up may not enter the same team in their previous division under a different name. Those who do will be subject to the entire roster being suspended.
  • Last place teams are required to move down to the next division the following season.
  • CoEd teams, excluding the keeper, may not play more than 3 players of either sex on the field at any time.
  • CoEd Game Scoring:
    • Male goals – 1 point
    • Female goals – 2 points 
  • The following point lead rules apply to all High School Divisions and Adult Divisions
    • A team with an 8-point lead must pull 1 field player and continue the game down 1 player.
    • A team with a 12-point lead must pull 1 additional field player and continue the game down 2 players. CoEd teams must pull one member of each sex.
    • When required to play short, a team may not pull their keeper.
    • Teams required to pull players must continue to play short until their lead is cut to 5 points.

Youth Rules

  • U4/U5 division play 6 v 6 on the short field without a keeper.
  • U6 division play 6v6 including a keepter.
  • All youth games, 18-minute halves with 2-minute halftime.
  • The following point lead rules apply to the U6 – U14 divisions:
    • A team with an 8-point lead must pull 1 field player and continue the game down 1 player.
    • A team with a 12-point lead must pull 2 additional field players and continue the game down 3 players.
    • When required to play short, a team may not pull their keeper. 
    • Teams required to pull players must continue to play short until their lead is cut to 5 points. 
    • High School teams will follow the Adult Point Lead Rules.
